FTdx3000D discontinued

Описание: I have sad news for the amateur Radio community. One of the finest HF + 6 meter transceivers ever made has been discontinued - the Yaesu FTdx3000D. As I write this, Ham Radio Outlet has 17 in stock. Once they’re gone they won’t be able to get anymore.

A gentleman on another YouTube channel said that the FTdx5000MP is also being discontinued, but I confirmed with Yaesu that isn’t the case. However Yaesu is analyzing the supply chain for the FTdx5000MP to ensure component availability, lest it also become a relic. I have a feeling that ours days are numbered as well, but I hope I’m wrong.

We in the amateur radio community must be careful not to fall for marketing speak and buy the newer radios just because they boast new technology. Some of the newer technology makes it possible for the manufacturers to make the radios cheaper, but not necessarily better. SDR is an example. SDR technology makes it possible to manufacture a radio for less cost. If we, the customers, are willing to invest in the extra cost involved to provide for the proper filtering that a SDR needs in the front end of its receiver, SDR can be better. Yaesu has done that, with the FTdx101D and MP, as well as with the FTdx10. Flex Radio did SDR right as well. But you pay for SDR to be done right.

I believe the FTdx3000D and its big brother, the FTdx5000MP, represent the pinnacle of receiver design, by merging the advantages of a superheterodyne receiver with superior Digital Signal Processing. And those radios accomplish this without making the received audio sound like it was digitally “washed “.

I hate to see such incredible technology slip away just because the companies are focused on what sells over what works best.
