Beyond the River: A Memoir of Liminality and Communitas in Rishikesh” is a student-made documentary exploring the liminal, the spiritual, and the everyday rhythms of Rishikesh. Shot during a field trip by the Sociology of Tourism cohort at South Asian University, this film captures fragments of practice, faith, labour, leisure, and the subtle communitas that emerges between people and landscapes.
Prepared under the guidance of Dr. Dev Nath Pathak, Associate Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, SAU, and Dr. Sumedha Dutta, Assistant Professor, and Course Designer and Instructor of the Sociology of Tourism paper, Department of Sociology, SAU.
