When approaching traffic lights, you should always check your rear view mirror, regardless of the colour of the light.
Always be prepared to stop as traffic lights can be unpredictable.
Things to consider when approaching traffic lights
🤔How long have the lights been on the colour they are on?
🤔Always check behind to assess vehicles from the rear.
🤔Is it safe to stop?
🤔If the lights are showing red, can you plan your approach so they change to green?
🤔Are there vehicles waiting on the exits of the lights? They may have triggered the lights to change.
🚦Order of Traffic Light colours✅
🔴 Red= Stop
🔴🟡 Red+Amber = Stop, start to prepare your vehicle
🟢Green = Go, if it is safe to do so. Make sure your exit is clear.
🟡Amber = Stop, if it is safe to do so
🔴Red = Stop
