#ElectricSkyUK Example of backbuilding convergence giving the impression of storm rotation, when in fact it isn't rotating.
Exeter, Devon UK. Looking west.

The same weather system that has brought over a week of thunderstorms to the UK is still here. Today in Exeter, the now cold low centre spins near Devon, easily unstable to any surface heating or convergence.
Here is an example of back-building quasi-stationary convergence, where coastal inflow clashes with storm outflow, giving the impression that the base lone is rotating due to the shear (keep an eye on the base). These low-altitude high-CAPE setups can give rise to transient funnels/tornadoes without the need for a supercell, evident in many reports across the country today.
