Up until recently I wasn't the biggest fan of the TTA. It often felt like it was at odds with my riding style, providing more resistance than propulsion at certain speeds. With purple bushings it kind of worked but they were so soft that I think there was not much torsion energy return anyway. The TTA felt slower and more tiring than other tails.
Initially, I blamed my weight and riding technique. I was wrong. Pairing the TTA with a high-rebound front truck (Krank bushings) proved to be an incompatible combination. At least for my riding style. The Lepsk8 TKP (whose stock bushings feel similar to WFB) transformed the TTA's performance entirely. The ride feels agile, not tiring anymore and speed has noticeably increased (to a point where I'm worried about speed wobbles with tailwind). I understand now why some other riders here describe the TTA as the fastest tail. The energy return feels amazing.
I had a similar experience with my other deck (Valkyrie Slalom 3.5 + S-Tail) where I changed the high rebound Krank on the Valk to a WFB because it was recommended here. In combination with the "surfy" S-Tail the setup felt like pumping a noodle. The lack of rebound made it difficult to gain speed and ironically felt just as tiring as too much rebound. However, reverting to a Krank bushing completely transformed the experience. The ride was fun and rapid again. (A nod to the Valk Slalom: an exceptional truck.)
Random observation about setting up the TTA: From my experience the outer cone bushings have a bigger impact on rebound than the inner cubes. I recommend to first change the outer cones and then fine tune the TTA with the inner bushings.
