Описание: What if you could take your complete human genome sequence into your doctor’s office, and have them use it to make helpful predictions about your future health -- telling you if it was news to be concerned about, or not? Richard Gibbs is the Wofford Cain Chair and Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics and Director of the Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC) at Baylor College of Medicine. He has performed key work describing changes in DNA that lead to human genetic disease. Gibbs provided an early leadership role for the Human Genome Project (HGP) and in 1997 founded the HGSC, one of five main groups to complete the HGP. Later, he developed methods now used for clinical genomic testing. Gibbs was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2011, admitted as a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2013, and recognized as one of the 400 most influential biomedical scientists in the world in 2013.
