Importance of Air Circulation
Indoor growing environments are protected areas that limit natural air flow.
While some pruning methods can help open up plant structures there is still no substitute for moving air within the grow space.
Fans are highly recommended.
Air circulation can help strengthen plants and reduce pest pressure.

Small and Large Spaces Need Air Movement
Even if you are growing just one plant air movement is important.
In a small grow tent this can be as simple as a 6” fan.
In large grow spaces this can mean many large osculating fans.

How Long Should The Fan Be On?
Unlike lights, fans should be running 24-hours a day 7 days a week.
Even when plants are resting (dark/night cycle) moving air is still important.
Moving air can help reduce humidity and moisture accumulation on the plant surface to help mitigate potential disease pressure.

Horizontal Air Flow
Oscillating fans maximize the air flow in a growing area.
As a general rule…
Select a fan with a CFM (cubic feet per minute) equal to or greater than the size of your growing space.
Ex. For a growing space of 1000cubic feet, should have a 1,000 CFM fan.

Vertical Air Flow
This will help mix the air to avoid temperature stratification.
While important too much of a good thing can have negative impacts, especially if the grow space is being enriched with carbon dioxide.

Fan Speed Control
Having control over a fans speed can help ensure that the correct amount of air movement can be achieved.
