This documentary explores medical racism and its impact on Black women’s health, with a particular focus on reproductive care in the UK. It examines how racial bias operates across the medical system — from the processes of diagnosis, to treatment within hospital settings, and the wider societal consequences of racialised medical neglect.
Rather than centring only clinical expertise, this project brings together interviews with academics from a range of disciplines to explore how reproductive health is understood, discussed, and valued, and how disparities in access to quality care are recognised beyond medical fields. By doing so, the documentary highlights how medical racism is not only a clinical issue, but a structural and cultural one, shaped by historical assumptions, institutional practices, and unequal power relations.
Through these conversations, the film aims to expose how Black women’s pain, autonomy, and reproductive lives are routinely marginalised, and to question what accountability, recognition, and justice in healthcare might look like.
