This is ex-Muslim Saleem Wastik. He was previously a Muslim and had even served as a cleric (maulvi), but over time, due to his personal views, he left Islam. At present, he does not believe in any religion. He speaks openly on religious issues and also criticizes Islam.
On the morning of February 27, at around 8 a.m., he was attacked in Ghaziabad in an attempt on his life. On a Friday, two men on a motorcycle assaulted him with a sharp weapon. He was subsequently admitted to GTB Hospital in Delhi. Currently, Saleem Vaastavik is on a ventilator, and his condition remains critical.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred involving someone who has spoken about or criticized Islam — whether it was French teacher Samuel Paty or Kamlesh Tiwari from Lucknow. The consequences of speaking about or criticizing religion often do not turn out very differently.
