In our time together today I'll play through the tune Eanach Dhuin, The Sheep in the Boat.

I'll play through three times to demonstrate something different each time.
The tune is often played and sung as a slow air, and if you remember when we chatted about the slow air as I said yesterday that this tune can fit both definitions of the slow air. It fits the popular definition of a slow air because it has a defined melody to it, and you can you can play that, people often do but they play it in a thoughtful slow emotive way, which fits the popular definition. It is also played as a more traditional slow air in that many people stray away from the tune as they express or sing the song. So it hits both slow air definitions.
With that said, we need to remember the words of the poem, the story of this tune, in order to express the lament properly. If you and I can feel some of the emotion behind it as we're playing then we'll be able to convey that emotion better as we play.
So I'll add links to a couple versions of the poem in the notes to this video. And you'll see a lot of the versions printed of the words to the poem, or only a couple or three verses, and that's because some of the verses are just heartbreaking and raw.
So as I play through it, I said three times, I'll play through the first time on my Howard which is the the first verse where Anthony introduces the lament, the scene. And then that verse turns to a cry for prayer. And so that will be, I'm seeing that a little faster, a little more in the rhythm as written. The second time I play it through on my Howard will be one of the more pure lament verses where I'll probably stray a little more from the rhythm of the tune as written. And then the third time I want to play it on my Wild Irish high D.
