In this video, I have explained the basic understanding of ozonolysis reaction and it mechanistic description for alkene and alkyne. This is a very useful technique to convert alkene into carbonyl compounds in one step. Additionally, alkene could be converted into alcohol or carboxylic acid in the presence of reducing agent and oxidizing agents, respectively. This is called reductive ozonolysis and oxidative ozonolysis. In fact, an alkyne is converted into carboxylic acid in one step.
