"The FDA invariably gets the best ratings by the public which is a tremendous testimony to public ignorance of what this agency does and what effects its actions have. Here's the most lethal regulatory agency by far of any in the government, more lethal perhaps even than the Department of Defense and yet people hold it up as the paragon of good government regulation. Much of the public's approval springs from a failure to understand how private institutions would operate in the absence of such regulation."
