Does an egg sink or float in salt water? What does it do in fresh water? Find out by doing this awesome science experiment!

1. A raw egg sinks in water, but can we increase water's density to make it float? Haiqa adds salt to see what would happen. Then she carefully add fresh water on top of salted one ( not to mix layers) to check the status of Float or sink egg, it's just amazing.

2. In the second experiment Haiqa have two oranges - one unpeeled and the other peeled. Haiqa drops both of them in water to see what happens. The unpeeled orange floats in water but the peeled orange sinks. Because there are umpteen air bubbles in the orange peel which lowers its density. That is why the unpeeled oranges float. The peeled oranges have a density higher than water and that is why it sinks.

3. Haiqa inspired by Disney's Frozen 2 movie, this is a fun challenge to pick up a piece of ice with a string! The secret is to use salt and a bit of frozen 2 magic  , Wet the string, put it flat on Ice, sprinkle a bit of salt and after ten seconds lift the string up. The ice should have been stuck to the string by then. What happens here is that salt dissolves in a thin layer of water above the ice. Salty water has a lower freezing temperature compared to freshwater, so it makes ice melt, absorbing the heat in the process. Ice takes some of that heat from water causing it to freeze back again trapping our string.
