This year’s theme will be “Actionable Knowledge for the Anthropocene” and how it can be leveraged to face some of the toughest challenges we encounter as a society today. As part of the WCI’s mission to build a more equitable, balanced, and viable urban and planetary future, the event will highlight different perspectives on how to achieve these goals. The Summit’s specific daily themes will be: Climate and planetary emergencies; Islands turning towards knowledge ventures beyond the tourism economy; Knowledge based urban development and the post-truth society . Each theme addresses a pressing issue that permeates throughout global societal structures. KCWS 2022 will bring together scholars and practitioners and policymakers from multiple different disciplines and world regions actively working on these topics.
