Grinding on 5th is the snychro for preselecting high range...... no matter what rpm or road speed the truck is at after selecting high range and going into neutral it grinds into high range
But will easily fall right into fifth gear.... I don’t like synchros but this is what I’m stuck with..... when loaded with a full 5,000 gallons (40,000 lbs) give or take it climbs a hill at around 15 mph i have to drop all the way back down to 4th to climb a hill at 1500 rpm
