Much tinkering on the Commer Superpoise lorry's straight-six engine, junior assists!

Описание: The 1950 Commer Superpoise lorry hasn't run since about 1971, so a recent spell of pleasant weather was a good opportunity to have a tinker with this British lorry's six-cylinder OHV (originally sidevalve) engine and see what it might need to encourage it into life. In this video, junior and I spend some time checking out this classic racing car transporter's ignition and fuel systems, perform a carb swap after checking out its internals, and generally re-acquaint ourselves with its overall condition under the bonnet. I also demonstrate how not to remove a spark plug ...
In a previous vid I talk more about how the Commer race car transporter came to join us, and the work involved simply to accommodate its bulk here at home (extending the drive by 40ft and losing half an apple tree being just part of it). It was always about rescuing it from a very uncertain future, so that this classic race car transporter continues to exist and hopefully be restored at some point. I think it most likely that I'll move it on at some point due to the garage here already being occupied by one oversize vehicle - the space that dismantling and then fixing up a vehicle like the Commer can't be under-estimated, and the time it requires of course.
