In this video, we discuss a much-needed reform in the Indian criminal justice system — the creation of an official online platform where the complainant, accused, and witnesses can submit their version of facts directly before the investigation agency and that should be visible to the courts as well.
Currently, during the investigation stage under the Code of Criminal Procedure (now replaced by the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023), there is no structured digital mechanism that allows all stakeholders to transparently record their submissions. This often leads to allegations of bias, incomplete investigation, and unnecessary trial proceedings.
An official government-backed digital platform could:
• Increase transparency in investigation
• Ensure accountability of investigating officers
• Reduce misuse of criminal law
• Help courts in discharge applications
• Assist High Courts in quashing petitions
• Protect genuine complainants and innocent accused alike
• Strengthen trust in the justice delivery system
We analyse why this platform is required and how it could reduce pendency in courts.
This video is meant to encourage constructive legal discussion and policy reform dialogue.
