Описание: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted themselves with the progress of the basic repair works being carried out at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex, December 26.

Based on the design documents for the repair works to be carried out at the Complex, works on reconstruction of the internal communication systems, repair of the ventilation system, replacement of the soft roof insulation and placing more quality flooring, renewal of doors, windows and stained glasses and laying special covers of sports type on the floors of halls started. The Complex will accommodate up-to-date competition halls, a souvenir shop, special areas for the press, VIP rooms, TV broadcasting centre, cafés and bars, and other types of rooms.

The trainings hall will be built to the latest standards. Here will be saunas, rooms for massage, draw, doping test, medical aid, physicians recreation rooms, office for international federations, a competition centre, a meeting room for 40 people, 250-seat canteen, a cuisine and other secondary rooms.

With total area of 55 thousand square metres, number of onlooker’s seats became 7682, while they were 7587 before the repair. Here will also be 142 VIP seats.

A series of actions have been taken in order to ensure that the Complex meet the requirements of international-level competitions, including the first European Games, and to raise its functionality. Basic repair works at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex are being carried out on the higher level, taking into consideration the requirements of the European Olympic Committee, Baku European Games Operations Committee, and relevant international federations. A 200-seat press centre, a café for journalists, a 40-seat conference room, and a room and café for 350 volunteers will function at the Complex.

In addition, the Complex has been provided with safety cameras, 222 state-of-the-art floodlights, broadband internet, up-to-date acoustics and sound amplifying systems, a transformer ensuring the equipment’s sustainable operation, UPS and generator.

The building’s façade has been completely renewed during the basic repair works.
