Steve and I tackled the 30+ mile out and back from Tofte to Lutsen last weekend. Lots of elevation (my Wahoo read nearly 3,600ft), which gave for lots of climbing and descending. It was nice having halfway as the viewpoint bridge in Lutsen, and I think I would do it the same way next time.
Although this isolated Rock Solid built trail is quite a feat in itself, much of it feels the same throughout the entire ride. You will find yourself looking at a LOT of trees, and I don't believe there was much of a viewpoint on the Jackpot trail itself, at least in the summer with all the leaves. High Climber had one small viewpoint maybe halfway through in an open area, along with the bridge at the start of the Lutsen side. Although High Climber is shorter than Jackpot, I felt the climbs were harder. Portions of rocks and rock slabs are used on both trails, in typical Rock Solid fashion. The occasional double or side hit are aplenty, and the biggest, nicest berms I've seen yet. Would I want more gnarly stuff in it? It's hard to say; getting injured in this amount of isolation wouldn't be great, and I think the trail builders may have thought of this as well. It is a flow trail that allows you to log all-day miles, while still getting mildly sendy in the process. Perfect for it's intention, really.
