ESPY31 device has been developed with great attention to metrological accuracy and SI traceability to measure direct d31 and d32 piezoelectric coefficients. The device is suitable for characterising piezoelectric material, such as piezoelectric polymers (e.g. PVDF), composites, dielectric elastomers and biological soft materials. Our instrument provides high precision and excellent measurement repeatability, with an accuracy quantified through the system’s traceable calibration. The ESPY31 contains an integrated force measurement cell positioned in perfect alignment with the sample fixture resulting in uniform on-axis, yet zero off-axis loads on the sample, ensuring highest precision in d31 or d32 coefficient measurements.
