Описание: As many of you know already, I teach a course in DJing called
DJ Skills And Styles. Since I started teaching this class back in 2012 at The New School, I've had the privilege of sharing benchmark moments from my students. From the smallest of accomplishments like learning how to "drop on the one" to tallest, like mastering a #Breakdown "Beat Juggle" pattern. And so many any of you have witnessed students like my girl Dylan go from novice in a classroom to professional opening up for me at one of my DJ residencies here in NYC. Today, I'm happy to share another milestone for my
DJ Skills And Styles students.

This 2017 Spring semester, exactly 5 years after I taught my first wave of DJs in the making at The New School, I was afforded the opportunity to teach an advanced course I call #AdvancedDJSkills. In it, I introduce students to ensemble DJing. My little Brolic Army broke up into 3 separate groups. Unlike my intro course, the focus now was the application of mixing, scratching, and "beat juggling", using turntables, vinyl and Serato, in order to create an ensemble composition.

I've been officially teaching the art of DJing for 20 years now. Ask DJ Precision. He bore witness to the all important skills that encompass this discipline in the class I taught at his high school back in 1997. He's an accomplished, champion DJ today. I wonder where Rachel, Alexa and Zen will end up 20 years from now...

P.S. I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the #InvisiblSkratchPiklz. If it were not for the contributions of DJ Apollo, DJ Qbert, Mix Master Mike, DJ Shortkut, and D-Styles I wouldn't know how to teach a group of students the formidable task of achieving maximum synchronicity behind turntables. #ISP laid the foundation for this style of DJing. They're the best at it and I owe them a debt of thanks for inspiring us all.
