⁴ᴷ Hokkaido: Okhotsk Hyomon Station (北海道: オホーツク氷紋の駅) - Japan Walking Tour (July, 2025)

Описание: To begin my journey around almost the entire island of Hokkaido, I took an 18-hour ferry ride and landed in Tomakomai. From there, my adventure around Hokkaido officially began.

From Wakkanai, I headed south along the coastal route known as the Okhotsk Scallop Road and arrived in the city of Monbetsu. The old Monbetsu Station, once part of the now-defunct Nayoro Main Line, no longer serves trains. Today, it’s been repurposed as the “Okhotsk Hyomon no Eki” (Okhotsk Drift Ice Station), and that’s where I began my walk through the city.

Hamanasu Street, which exudes a nostalgic atmosphere, was fairly quiet—perhaps because it was a Tuesday. Still, I passed a group of men in business suits, giving a small glimpse into the daily life of the town.
