This piece has been transcribed numerous times, yet I have yet to encounter a version that truly satisfies me. Most existing transcriptions remain fixated on repeating the AEA theme (that familiar melodic fragment), not enough to push the technical limits of both the piano and the pianist. Such repetitive approaches inevitably induce aesthetic fatigue upon extended listening. I believe this composition contains richer musical elements worthy of exploration - particularly the organ-running passages in the upper register, which I consider even more crucial than the AEA theme itself. Their intricate complexity forms a striking contrast with the melodic simplicity, creating an ethereal and mystical atmosphere. The bass line proves equally vital, where a streamlined bass progression interacts with elaborate arpeggiated chord structures, forming a musical dialogue with the upper-register organ textures. However, the physical limitations of having only two hands make it exceptionally challenging to articulate multiple distant registers simultaneously. Though the piece lasts less than two minutes, the arrangement demanded an extraordinary investment of time. After experimenting with countless potential solutions (including four-hand duet approaches), I finally developed a satisfactory arrangement that maintains structural integrity, delivers effective musical expression, and crucially - remains physically playable by human performers.
