Heavy Duty Machining 1000HP Tree Grinder Shaft | Part 2

Описание: This video is Part 2 of heavy duty machining a new shaft for a 1000 horsepower Vermeer Horizontal Tree Grinder. The material has come back from heat treatment to relieve the stress and the run out issue is now worse than it was, so it’s touch and go for the first couple of cuts to make sure we can machine the shaft to spec and save it. We are heavy duty machining, cutting the radius and cutting external threads for the nut. We also drill and tap the end before sending the shaft out to a friend who cuts the 1.5” (inch) keyways on his big CNC milling machine. The heat treater recommended we take 0.5mm cuts on all this machining so as not to “overstress” the material so the job took much longer than we ever expected. Considering the amount of dramas we had, in the end customer was happy and we were happy it was done! We are using our TM-26120G centre lathe for machining the large tree grinder shaft.
