How do you create an intentional culture?
Imagine your company has a set of “rules for being a good teammate.” These are things like being honest, helping others, and working hard. These are called "core values"— the heart of how you want everyone to act at work.
Now, when someone joins the team, you don’t just say, “Here’s your desk—good luck!” You show them those values right from the start. You tell them, “Around here, we always help each other,” or “We believe in speaking up when something’s not right.”
And you don’t stop there. You remind people of these values during training, when you give them feedback, and even when you say “thank you” for a job well done. When it’s time for someone to get promoted or move to a new job, you look at whether they’ve been living out those values.
So really, it’s about making sure those “be a good teammate” rules are part of every step someone takes while they work at your company.
