Chicken & Potato Casserole with Béchamel Sauce
Ingredients
5–6 medium potatoes
A little salt, black pepper, paprika, rosemary – mix with olive oil
500 g chicken meat (I used the thigh part)
1 onion
1 red kapya pepper
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1 tea glass of water
1 clove garlic, crushed
Salt, black pepper, chili flakes, a little thyme
1 bowl boiled peas
For the béchamel sauce:
1.5 tablespoons butter
2 level tablespoons flour
2 cups milk (400 ml)
Salt, black pepper, a little grated nutmeg (optional)
For the top:
Grated kashar cheese
Preparation
Peel the potatoes and slice them. Mix with spices and olive oil and place them in a baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, sauté the chicken in a pan with a little oil. Add the onion and pepper, mix, then add the tomato paste and sauté once more. Add the water and spices, stir. Cook over medium heat with the lid closed for 10 minutes. Finally, add the boiled peas and mix.
In a separate pot, for the béchamel sauce, sauté the flour in butter. When the smell comes out, add the milk and spices, stir and bring to a boil.
Pour the chicken mixture over the baked potatoes. Drizzle the béchamel sauce on top, then sprinkle with kashar cheese. Put it back into the already hot 200°C oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, until the cheese is golden.
