STORY
Imagine waking up every day to the sound of wind weaving through the trees, the silence only broken by the distant call of birds, with no neighbors, no visitors, and no sign of the outside world. This was the life Mr. Enrique and Mrs. Angela chose for their family—a life of complete solitude, high in the rocky wilderness. They spent their days surrounded by books, contemplating life, faith, and the mysteries of existence, sheltering their three children from the town below, which viewed them as an enigma.
The townspeople never really knew this family. They were whispered about, and seen as outsiders—strange, reclusive. And yet, within their home, there must have been conversations filled with deep thoughts about God, philosophy, and the weight of history. Dusty books on Nazi Germany left behind in the house suggest they may have been wrestling with difficult truths, possibly even hiding a history that no one in the town knew about.
Why did they distance themselves from everyone? What kept them locked away in this remote corner where Spain meets Portugal?
Today, we stand where they once lived, exploring the crumbling rooms now overrun by nature, trying to piece together their story. Could it have been fear, a hidden past, or simply a desire to escape the world’s noise? And if you were in their shoes, would you have made the same choice?
