The success on this example of CBDRM good practice comes from treating community participation in Disaster Risk Management activities differently, by engaging the local population as partners rather than beneficiaries, through the creation of San Ildefonso Disaster Management Association (SIDMA). Also by ensuring full inclusion of marginalised groups from the onset.
