This film illustrates trams operating on the (formerly Croydon)Tramlink Route No. 3 running between New Addington and Wimbledon. These trams are of two designs, namely the Bombardier CR4000 (1998-9) and the Stadler Variobahn, recent additions to the fleet between 2012-15. The trams are shown in order of operation as they passed by in both directions (each tram carries a service number on cards in both cabs) and there are two non-standard livery variations in the form of the still photograph of the yellow Tramlink-safety liveried 2550 and the 'wrapper'-liveried 2560 - supposedly representing a partially unwrapped parcel containing a tram! The trams either photographed (when it was bright enough) or filmed included Nos. 2550 (service 34), 2532 (35), 2557 (33), 2544 (36), 2531 (37), 2551 (38), 2546 (39), 2542 (41), 2539 (42), 2543 (40), 2545 (?), 2537 (?), 2560 (43) although not all of these were captured on video. The fleet numbers are all clearly visible on the trams. Sharp-eyed viewers might just be able to spot a Red Fox Vulpes vulpes sauntering across the track immediately before tram 2543 passes through in the first clip.
David would like to express his deepest sympathy for all those affected by the horrific incident at Sandilands on 9th November 2016.
