The SD70MACe is the rebuild and renewed aftermath of an SD70MAC overhaul. Thankfully, most keep their horns and their considerable rumble.
The SD70MACe is equipped with an enhanced microprocessor control system. It also has upgrades to the carbody with sound-deadening materials to reduce external noise. The locomotive is powered by a 12-cylinder, 4,300-horsepower diesel engine, and includes a dynamic brake system for improved braking. It was designed to meet the latest EPA requirements for reduced emissions, and it is lighter and more efficient than its predecessor.
Additionally, the SD70MACe includes features such as an advanced electronic control system that allows for improved operation and data collection. The locomotive is also equipped with an advanced traction control system that helps it handle heavy loads with ease and provides a smooth ride.
