"Repulsive" Breakfast: Ruth encounters a sausage so poorly cooked she describes it as looking like a "condom has slipped from the top".

Harrap’s Law: Jon defends his "turgid brown monstrosity" of a hotel frontage, telling Ruth she’s "either blind or stupid" if she can’t tell his yellow canopies apart from the neighbor's.

The "Vortex" Excuse: Ruth refuses to shower due to grimy screens and mildew, which Jon tries to explain away as "clean dirt" caused by a hi-tech "vortex".

The Radical Purge: To secure a 4-star rating, the owners must clear out a "schizophrenic horror" of a lounge in a massive car-boot sale.
