Demonstration of a very common problem with off-spec Version 2 parts. In my VFC Avalon gearbox, since brand new, this issue manifested as semi-auto lock up, where randomly, the trigger would get blocked, feeling as if it were in safe, but could be temporarily resolved by switching to full auto, firing, and then returning to semi. After disassembling and reshimming my stock gearbox, I no longer had the blocking issue, however it would only fire full-auto when in semi-auto mode. This, in fact, appears to be an extension of the same issue:
The sector gear appears to bite down on the cutoff lever ever so slightly to the point that the cutoff lever is held just in the right position to block the trigger trolley from moving forward OR not engage the trigger trolley at all, and allowing the gun to fire full auto when semi is selected.
