We visited a McDonald's in Turku, Finland, and the menu surprised us right away. The first thing you'll notice is that McDonald's Finland does not have a fish burger — which feels almost unthinkable given that Finland is surrounded by water. Instead, you'll find something called the McFeast with rye bread, a very Finnish spin on the classic burger that tastes surprisingly close to a Big Mac but with a dense, earthy rye base. Is it worth ordering? Honestly, probably not a repeat order — but it's a genuinely unique thing you won't find anywhere else in the McDonald's world.

What does a McDonald's meal cost in Finland? Our family order came to €30.85, which is useful context if you're budgeting a trip or just curious how Finnish fast food prices compare to home. Beyond prices, McDonald's Finland is noticeably different in its approach to packaging — almost no plastic in sight, paper cups with no lids for dine-in, wood trays, and paper straws. The waste sorting station at the exit separates biowaste, mixed waste, and napkins — something the US McDonald's system could genuinely learn from.

We also tried the McFlavor fries (spicy hot ketchup — oddly polarizing), the Grimace shake (its Finnish debut, blueberry-flavored in a nod to Finland's wild forest blueberries), and cinnamon buns. The Grimace shake, for the record, tastes like a Skittles milkshake in the best and strangest way.
