A Haunting But Magical Scottish Adventure To Reach A Monolith.

Описание: A fascinating mountain biking adventure in Scotland through a beautiful but eerie landscape to reach a Monolith on a summit sculptured from the remains of an old Coal Mine at St Ninians. This area of Fife, in Scotland, is rich with a coal mining history. St Ninians Open Cast Mine swallowed up the village of Lassodie where sadly nothing remains of what was once a vibrant community. A young Sean Connery was said to be a regular visitor to the village after his grandparents retired there in the early 1930s. This is a really interesting mtb adventure that begins in the village of Kingseat with a beautiful drop down to Loch Fitty where access to St Ninians is gained over a causeway which splits a section of the Loch. Initially it is simply a case of following The "Fife Pilgrim Way" footpath across the impressive causeway of Loch Fitty where the three intriguing peaks at St Ninians seem to rise up out of the water ahead. To reach the Monolith a wonderful spiral path ascends a hill where you will be treated to a wonderful artful landscape created from remains of the old mines machinery. This footage has been sitting on my computer hardrive since last Summer so with the arrival of Spring I decided now was a good time to publish the adventure. GPX routes of this trail are included below.
