Here’s how I did it using the QCS Finish Removal System—the simple and safe way to strip antique and vintage furniture.

Step 1: Applied a light, even coat of QCS Finish Remover.
Step 2: After about 30 minutes, I reapplied a second coat (heavier this time) to ensure a deep penetration through the old finish.
Step 3: Once the finish softened after about an hour, I gently scrubbed the entire piece using 0-grade steel wool. A scouring pad works great, too!
NOTE: Keep the surface wet and be sure to scrub wet!
Step 4: After stripping and wiping away all of the residue with paper towels, I cleaned the entire piece with QCS Surface Cleanser. This deep cleans the wood and prepares it for the rest of the refinishing process.
Step 5: I celebrated and let it dry thoroughly.

The result? A clean, smooth surface ready for a fresh new finish—all without toxic fumes, burning skin, or damaging the original wood.
