The Humax RM-F04 remote control handset is provided with 6 control channels (Humax call them "modes"), so that if there is more than one Humax STB in the room they can be allocated different control channels (instead of all the STBs reacting to all the handsets). This applies to the Humax HDR-FOX T2, HD-FOX T2, Foxsat-HD, Foxsat-HDR, and others.
Judging by posts on the www.hummy.tv user group forum, people seem to have difficulty changing the control channel on the handset. There are several reasons for this:
1. The instructions are to press "0" and "OK" together, but it works best if "0" is pressed sooner than "OK" rather than later;
2. The user is not confident enough to hold the buttons for long enough, or to try and try again if they don't succeed first time;
3. The buttons have become intermittent on the handset (particularly the "OK" button, which is used most) - this only works if the buttons register as single continuous presses. If the indicator only illuminates briefly when pressing (and holding) buttons, this won't work. It is possible to (carefully) open the handset and clean or repair the button contacts - details at http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Remote_Disa....
This video shows the sequence of actions to get the handset into control channel change mode, and the way the handset reacts, in real time. The "0" button is pressed and held, immediately followed by pressing and holding the "OK" button. The "PVR" button lights briefly while "0" on its own is pressed, then goes out when "OK" is also pressed. Both buttons are held for several seconds, until the "PVR" button lights continuously indicating the handset is now in control channel change mode. The buttons are then released and the "PVR" button remains lit (and will time-out if no other action is taken).
The video shows exiting the control channel change mode by pressing "EXIT". The user would normally press one button "1" to "6" to select the desired control channel.
Only one STB should be powered up during this procedure (the others should be off at the mains, not in standby). When the handset transmits that it is in channel change mode, the HDR-FOX displays a message box (on the TV screen) "you can change the remote control mode...", and reports the current control channel. Pressing a number button changes the control channel for the handset and the STB that is receiving it.
