Concept:
To define the Riemann integral of a function
𝑓(𝑥) on the interval [𝑎,𝑏] we partition the interval into 𝑛 subintervals of width Δ𝑥𝑖 and choose sample points 𝑥𝑖∗within each subinterval. We then form the sum of the products of the function values at these points and the widths of the subintervals:
