Filling a Sendak Roll ✨& Other Studio Musings 🫧

I never really thought about using a pen/pencil roll for art supplies until a few years ago, but it changed how I could access sketching! Suddenly, there in my bag, was a portable art studio & I loved it!

Last year I got the mini Sendak to try using a smaller version of my mammoth roll! I loved it! I loved having less weight, the more compact size, & how I could still use the back pockets to hold quite a lot of colors!

So for Christmas I got the regular/largest Sendak roll & I equally love it!

One thing I love is how the color of the Sendak roll almost becomes a canvas to highlight the colors you put in it.. . At any rate, it’s been really fun this week thinking through a softer, more muted palette, powder blues & lavender beige, mint & raspberry.. . A beautiful endeavor!

The Sendak Rolls are from Peg & Awl, & the largest one was a knitting needle case which I don’t think is on offer anymore, but you can find many similar things online, both in fabric & leather wih some google searches.. .

If you are looking at options, Peg & Awl also just brought out a mini Sendak roll, it’s called the Nutshell & looks especially cute.. .
