The two groups were recording a song, and there were discrepancies over who was going to lead; RL wanted Kelly to lead on the song, while Matthew thought Beyonce should take the lead. After much back and forth, Next was cut out of the project, which RL says marked the first time he was "sour" about music industry politics.
