Adar is the 12th month of the Hebrew ecclesiastical year and 6th of the civil year, typically falling in February–March.
Known as a time of great joy ("When Adar enters, joy increases"), it is best known for the festival of Purim (14th of Adar), celebrating the deliverance of Persian Jews. In leap years, an extra month, Adar II, is added.
Key Aspects of Adar:
•Significance: It is the month in which Moses was born and passed away (7 Adar).
•Purim: Celebrated with reading the Megillah (Book of Esther), sending food gifts, and charity.
•Leap Year: Occurs roughly every 3 years (7 times in 19 years), adding a 30-day "Adar I" before the regular month, which becomes "Adar II".
•Astrology: The zodiac sign is Pisces (Dagim), symbolizing fish, fertility, and protection.
Joyful Time: A period associated with good fortune and increasing happiness.
