Описание: When clients ask you to lower your price, how should you respond? Lowering your construction bid can be a complex decision. If you have worked through the sales process with your client and built a detailed estimate that includes the scope of work that the client is requesting and the materials the client has picked out, you could work with the client to pick more cost-effective materials that fit within their budget or possibly adjust the scope of work. If the client is asking for a significant reduction, you may not be able to meet their expectations without sacrificing quality.

Significantly lowering the bid too much could potentially lead to financial losses. If your bid has a healthy profit margin, you may be able to lower it slightly without losing money. However, if your profit margin is already thin, if you have not included all of your true job costs, or if there is a chance that you overlooked some essential items in the construction estimate, lowering the bid may not be possible without cutting corners, sacrificing quality or most often, taking money straight from your bottom line and resulting in a job that you are upside down on.

Being a new home builder or remodeler is transformational work, and if the client's request puts you in an uncomfortable position, be prepared to walk away from the construction project. As a residential general contractor, you provide a high-quality service, and a responsible client should understand that compromising quality or profitability is not an acceptable solution. Remind the client of the value you offer as a general contractor: your experience, reputation, and the quality of your work.
