Although winter weather can be unpredictable, the City of Barrie's snow removal efforts are not. Using a combination of City staff and contractors, plowing, sanding and salting is performed with consideration to safety, environmental and budget concerns. Sidewalk plows are deployed after 5cm of snow has fallen on priority routes, and 8cm for residential routes to plow and salt/sand the sidewalks to ensure residents and visitors travel safely.
