The Formika has been designed to briquette small chip quantities in the metalworking fields. Here, the priority is to reduced volumes with a compact, low cost system. This is in contrast to the RUF Series that can process high or very high throughputs under high or very high briquetting pressures.
The Formika can be linked directly to the machining centre’s chip chute, so the centre can run unattended 24/7. As a standalone system, this presents an interesting solution for metalworking companies generating only small chip volumes.

This system processes wet or dry short broken chips up to 30–50 mm in length, depending on the chip geometry. Sporadic chips of greater length, wet or dry, are also processed. The system has been designed specifically for aluminium and steel, yet it can also process stainless steels. A briquetting test is always recommended for your material. Other metals can be tested as well.
The densities of the generated briquettes vary with the alloying elements and chip geometry and can be as high as 2 kg/l for aluminium and 5 kg/l for steel. Liquid fractions are separated, collected, and pumped off inline.

The Formika combines a compact, low design with castor mobility. The electrical cabinetl is fitted as standard.
It is shipped ready to run, together with many options in the package. These always include, for instance, a drip pan and a emulsion pump for extruded liquids. Likewise shipped is a touchpanel presenting an intuitive user interface and potential free contacts for signal communication with linked machining centres. The hopper height and capacity can be customised, as well as the length of the briquette chute.
The Formika is a quality product whose main components are made in Germany and manufactured exclusively at the RUF plant in Zaisertshofen.
