Описание: From Snowy Storms to Sunshine: Surviving a Tent Camping Adventure at Greece's Coldest Peak!

I spend 2 days winter camping, sheltering from rain, snow and strong winds. Hiking alone in a beautiful wintry scenery. The trip started with good weather but from the afternoon of the first day the weather changed with stormy winds, rain and snowfall. The next day, the weather was wonderful, with sunshine and almost no wind.

The spot I decided to camp is the peak Sarantaina, with an altitude of 1.923 meters. It is considered one of the coldest places in Greece. Exposed to northerly winds coming down from the neighboring snow-capped mountains. The icy air never ceases to blow, and dense fog is a common occurrence.

Local tradition says that its name "Sarantaina" was given when forty people returning from a wedding froze to death on its icy slopes.
