Описание: The radio in this video has a condition known as SMD, or "Silver-Mica Disease," which is named after a type of foil capacitors that were used in some IF coils during the late 1940's and through out the 1950's. The foil caps are thin layers of silver sandwiching a mica layer. They were built into the IF coils and were not designed to be replaced. for whatever reasons sometimes the foild caps begin to corrode, which allows electricity to spark across the gap of the two caps. This causes a dead short in the B+ circuit and is characterized by loud crashing and clicking noises on the radio. This video shows you how to go in and cut the base of the coil to remove the foil cap and replace it with new capacitors. This video was originally shot for a thread on a blog at antiqueradios.com but can probably be adapted to your radio if you are having the same symptoms.
