당시 지배층이었던 사대부, 성균관 유생들의 거센 반대와
신하들의 목숨을 건 상소 속에서도, 세종은 끝까지 새 문자를 만들어냈습니다.

읽고 쓰기 어려워 배우기에 한참이 걸리던 한자와는 달리, 집현전 학자들과 세종의 노력으로
누구나 쉽게 배울 수 있는 새로운 문자 체계가 창제된 것입니다.

세종은 '백성을 가르치는 바른 소리'라는 뜻을 담아 훈민정음(訓民正音)이라는 이름을 붙였습니다.

발성 기관의 모양과 우주의 이치를 본떠 만든 한글은 그 과학적이고 독창적인 원리로,
조선시대 문맹률을 획기적으로 낮추고 모든 백성에게 지식의 문을 열어주는 빛과 희망이 되었습니다.

Despite the fierce opposition from the ruling class, the Sadaebu and Confucian students at Sungkyunkwan,
and the life-risking appeals from his own ministers, King Sejong persevered until the very end
to create a new writing system.

Unlike the difficult Chinese characters, which took immense time and effort to learn,
a new system was devised that anyone could easily master, thanks to years of intense research
by the King and the dedicated scholars of the Jiphyeonjeon.

King Sejong named this magnificent script Hunminjeongeum (訓民正音),
which means "The Proper Sounds to Instruct the People."

Modeled after the shape of the vocal organs and the principles of the universe,
Hangeul became the light and hope for all citizens.

Its scientific and original principles drastically lowered the illiteracy rate during the Joseon era,
opening the door to knowledge for everyone.
