Witness the stark reality of society through the lens of Munshi Premchand's legendary short story, "Kafan" (The Shroud).
In Part 1 of this cinematic adaptation, we are introduced to Ghisu and Madhav—a father and son belonging to the chamars community, living a life of extreme poverty and idleness. On a cold winter night, while Madhav's wife Budhiya writhes in pain during childbirth, the two men sit by a fire roasting potatoes, revealing the dehumanizing effects of destitution.
This film attempts to capture the tragic irony and social satire that Premchand was famous for.
