Originally opened in 1974 as the Genesee Country Mall, this downtown mall was meant to revitalize Batavia and bring shoppers back from the suburbs. Over the years, anchor stores closed, foot traffic dwindled, and structural issues, lawsuits, and decades of decline left much of the space vacant.
