Описание: In another project sponsored by Israel365, we planted a seed forest in Har Shemesh farm. The farm, founded, owned and operated by the same family for the last 30 years, raises sheep, cattle and goats in the Nahal Gerar area mentioned in the Book of Genesis; this is the area where Avraham and Yitzhak lived, where Yitzhak dug wells and strove with the Plishtim (Philistines,) eventually making an agreement with their king. On a barren spur of land with compacted and depleted soil, we planted a seed forest of Tabor oaks and tagasaste (tree lucerne,) with thornless prickly pear around the edges. The tagasaste will grow fast and fertilize the soil, while providing forage for the farm's livestock. The Tabor oaks will grow slowly and provide shade as well as acorns for the local wildlife. The prickly pear will provide a fence and fruit. Not only will this forest rejuvenate the soil, but it will also spread to nearby barren areas presently unsuited for agriculture.
