The Sierra Leone Rice Systems Capacity Strengthening Project, under the Food System Resilience Program (FSRP), holds Inception and Stakeholders’ Engagement Meeting in Moyamba Town.
Funded by the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) through South–South Cooperation, the project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The project aims to strengthen the extension and research capacity of Sierra Leone’s rice sector and promote climate-smart rice production systems from 2025 to 2027. It will be implemented in four pilot districts—Tonkolili, Kenema, Moyamba, and Kambia—and directly benefit 12,000 smallholder rice farmers and 100 seed growers, at least 50% of whom are women, as well as extension officers and rice scientists.
The engagement will help the Ministry to align and implement the project properly
